When summer arrives, children sadly discover that the play and sports activities they have been enjoying at their schools or at the Board's sports programmes (School Games, Municipal Sports Schools or Sports Courses) stop for three months because of the holidays.

Nursery    Moreover, the number of families where both parents work (either in paid employment or as homemakers) is increasing, and having children at home all day can become a nuisance.

     This has led to a company called Deporte Joven organising the School and Sports Nursery jointly with the Municipal Sports Board. The Nursery is a place where parents can leave their children for the whole morning, or most of it. Children can be initiated in the sports activity of their choice by means of activities such as theoretical and practical swimming courses, basic sports such as Psychomotricity, and other sports and games suited to their age.

     Both the practical and theoretical teaching will be in the hands of specialised personnel. There will be an assigned coach for each speciality, except for swimming which will have two, as well as the assistant staff assigned to look after and monitor pupils.

     Activities will take place at the Municipal Sports Board's Mount Tossal Sports Complex, a natural outdoor location ideally suited to children.

     The Nursery is aimed at children from 4 to 12 years old, who will be divided into groups of 15 children according to age, and directed by an Instructor and an Assistant.

     Opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 13:30.

     Deporte Joven's contribution to this initiative is as follows:

  • Fresh fruit for breakfast
  • Monitoring, care and invigilation, by qualified personnel, of all the children from the moment they arrive at the facilities until they are collected by their parents.
